This database contains biographical sketches of over 1, prominent citizens and early settled families from the counties of Tolland and Windham in Connecticut. Tolland and Windham are located in the northeastern corner of the state. The three River Towns, Wethersfield, Windsor and Hartford, had created a general government when faced with the demands of a war. On Janu , freemen from these three settlements ratified the "Fundamental Orders of Connecticut" in what John Fiske called "the first written constitution known to history that created a government.
